Privacy Policy

RoamWise is operated by GYANVERSE, Almora, Uttarakhand, India ("we", "us"). This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect and why.

1. Information we collect

a) Information you give us

• Account details — name, email and profile photo, only if you choose to sign in.
• Content you create — trips, itineraries, group chat messages, expenses, journal entries and Journey Passport stamps.
• Beacon profile — the interest tags, short bio and contact handle you choose to publish when you light a Beacon.

b) Information collected automatically

• Approximate location — only when you use a location feature (Near Me, Beacon, or verifying a Journey Passport claim), and only with your permission.
• Basic diagnostics — errors and usage counts, used to fix bugs.

c) What we do NOT collect

• We do not track your location in the background. Ever.
• We do not read your contacts, photos or messages.
• We do not scrape or import your LinkedIn, Instagram or other social profiles.

2. How location is handled

Location is requested only at the moment you use a feature that needs it, and never in the background.

• Near Me — used once to search nearby places; not stored on our servers.
• Beacon — your position is blurred to roughly a one-kilometre area on your device before anything is sent. Your precise coordinates never leave your phone. Beacons expire automatically after two hours, and you can switch yours off instantly.
• Passport verification — used once, at the moment you stamp a journey, to confirm you are at the place you are claiming. We store only whether the check passed.

3. How we use your information

• To provide the features you ask for (planning trips, splitting costs, finding nearby people).
• To keep the service safe (spotting abuse, handling reports, preventing contest fraud).
• To improve the product and fix problems.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not show third-party advertising.

4. Sharing

We share data only with service providers that run the app for us — principally Google Firebase (authentication, database) and our AI providers, which process the text of your requests to generate replies. We may disclose information if required by Indian law.

Anything you publish deliberately — a lit Beacon, a group chat message, a public Journey Passport verification — is visible to the people you shared it with, or to anyone with the passport ID.

5. Retention

• Group chat messages auto-delete after roughly 30 days. Export them if you want to keep them.
• Beacons expire after 2 hours.
• Journey Passports are permanent by design — that is what makes them verifiable proof. Ask us and we will remove yours.
• On-device data (saved trips, journal, preferences) stays on your device until you clear it.

6. Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time by emailing founder@roamwise.co.in. We aim to respond within 30 days. You may also delete your account from within the app, which removes your account data.

7. Children

RoamWise is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections and access-controlled databases. No system is perfectly secure, so please share only what you are comfortable sharing, particularly in Beacon profiles.

9. Changes

If we change this policy materially, we will update the date above and notify you in the app.
